1) Why are you graphic design major?
I'm a graphic design major because I love anything and everything that has to do with design. I've always enjoyed creating things on the computer and finally, last year, I decided to switch majors from psychology to art with a concentration in graphic design. Bad or sloppy design irritates me to no end. If I wanted to be profound, I could say I want to be a graphic designer so I can do away with all of the sloppy designers one-by-one and change the world of design, but that's just a dream...and most likely, not a reality. I enjoy the satisfaction of creating something from scratch, from my head onto the computer or paper. I love creativity and the appreciation other's have for those who are creative. I want to be a respected and excellent designer. If, one day, I can have a job that allows me to express myself creatively every single day, then I will be the happiest person in the world.
2) Who are your favorite designers and why?
I really enjoy Tim Lahan's work (timlahan.com). I stumbled upon his website a few months ago. I like his stuff alot because it's neatly done and thought through. There was a business card he created for one of his clients with a tiny touch to it. The photographer was working out of Pennsylvania and he put a small state of Pennsylvania graphic in part of the design. I thought it was genius and just darn cool and creative.
3) If you could design a CD sleeve, who would it be for and why?
If I could design ANY CD sleeve, it would HAVE to be Augustana's. First off, because I love their sound. Everything they write seems to come together so effortlessly and the lead singer's voice is so organic and beautiful...designing for them would be amazing. I know we aren't supposed to pick other artists to design for, but I would also love to design for Joshua Radin...which I sort of already have because that was our last assignment in software suite but I had alot of fun designing for that project because he also has a very simple and organic sound to all of his music, and because I absolutely love simple design, designing for any artist with a simple, but rich sound would be a dream come true.
